Candle Safety Standards

Here, in the United States, candle safety is governed by a voluntary industry standard put forth by ASTM (F2417-17). That means that each candle manufacturer can decided to follow best practices around candle safety, pick and choose which ones they want to follow, and for some folks – completely ignore the concept of candle safety (Yikes!) Here at Manzanita Craft Company, we pride ourselves on quality of craftsmanship and that means testing our candles according to best practices.

Based on a recent announcement by the National Candle Association, we do not add botanical embeds to any of our candle products due to increased fire hazards. We may on occasion include decorative wax embeds, which have also undergone rigorous candle burn testing to ensure they meet safety standards.
